Q:Love your work. Are there any books you used for ref, etc. or certain styles of drawing that helped you improve?
Firstly, thanks! second off lets see… Really the answer to that are just the comics I read. they are great for refs and style ideas and such. I didnt start getting real guide type books and what not till semi recently. one of the ones I really liked though was “The DC Comics Guide to DIGITALLY DRAWING Comics” by Freddie E Williams II. Great read on doin digital comic art. also “perspective for comic artists” by david chelsea also a great one. those can both be found at barnes and noble stores and im pretty sure theyre both on amazon as well. hope that helps.

Simply because.
Speaking of different body shapes. These are all basically peak human bodies.
How come 99% of them don’t conform to what the entertainment industry tells us is the perfect body?
This is a FABULOUS set of body refs. So glad this came back across my dash so I could reblog it here :D
These images are from a book by Howard Schatz of various Olympic athletes, which was titled “Athlete.” You can buy the book [here]. Also, have some more photos from it:
Never not reblogging this.
Awesome!
something every comic book artist needs to study
This is actually a pretty wicked study of the human form… people def come in all shapes… but its cool to try and figure out the commonalities that create the rules of the body. helps with art for sure.
